Sweet Guitars..

..Built for Inspiration.

In 1981 I started playing guitar. My best friend at the time was an incredible young player who encouraged me to jam with him so he could practice his chops. Over the next few years, my love of playing guitar turned into a full-time career playing in my own bands around the Southeastern United States. During my time on the road I learned the ins and outs of live audio engineering and studio production. Little did I realize at the time that those skills would land me on a world tour with Hootie and the Blowfish, first as the guitar tech and then as the monitor engineer. In ‘96 I relocated from North Carolina down to Columbia, SC where I planted new roots. I co-founded a recording studio known as Gothic Studios and started playing music full time again. In 2011, I needed a new direction and became production manager and FOH engineer for Corey Smith, underground independent country music phenom. This career choice has allowed me to work with some of the finest musicians from hundreds of bands from all over the world. My wife Sherri and I moved to Greenville, SC in 2022. I have a home studio which provides a great environment to produce and write with artists when I am not on tour. I also have a Dolby Atmos mix room, Sugar Immersive, located within the walls of Studio 101 in Woodruff, SC. The guitar has been my passion, my writing tool, and my constant companion.

The Sugar guitar concept was born in 2016. I wanted to keep the traditional vibe of classic guitars I had played my whole career and incorporate some modern features into my new design. From the nitro finishes to the hand rubbed feel of my favorite old guitars to compound radius necks and custom bridges, the Sugar guitar represents, for me, the perfect balance of traditional meets modern in guitar design.
